For many years now Metatrader 4 has been the dominant trading platform for Forex and other commodities. Its dominance was secured by the need for software consistency between traders and other dealer/brokers, Metatrader 4 ended up being the chosen platform. But now there is a contender to Metatrader 4’s crown. MetaQuotes Software needn’t throw in the towel just yet though as the new king of trading platforms is none other than their own Metatrader 5!
Metatrader 5 has been built from scratch in order to provide a completely new trading experience. While it still has all the features that made Metatrader 4 a success, Metatrader 5 has a wealth of extra features and improvements that mean it soundly trumps its predecessor.
Top new features include the new ‘Navigator’ interface system which makes it much easier to manage multiple accounts at once, the greatly enhanced electronic advisors feature, and a slew of new indicators which allow you to devise more effective strategies.
For Metatrader 5, MetaQuotes Software decided to re-write the whole script from scratch and in the process managed to remove many of the bugs and errors that plagued Metatrader 4. At the same time they also simplified the language and made the system a lot more accessible, especially for beginners.
Metatrader 5 does have some minor drawbacks when compared to its predecessor. For example it is no longer possible to manage two separate different-in-time orders on the same currency pair, and hedging has been removed as well. Another issue is that Metatrader 5 is not backwards compatible with electronic advisors and custom indicators developed for Metatrader 4.
Overall Metatrader 5 is superior to its predecessor in just about every conceivable way, minor adjustments such as the removal of hedging were necessary to bring the platform in line with industry standards and are good for the markets as a whole. So what are you waiting for? Make the leap today and get ready to see your trades improve dramatically.
